Every fashion-conscious person should have a high-end graphic tee. For lazy days, busy days, apathetic days. Some people choose Marc by Marc Jacobs. Others See by Chloe. I choose Kitsuné! Ok, I choose all three but I’ll be talking about Kitsuné today.
From an interview with it’s two major players/founders Masaya Kuroki and Gildas Loaec….
Interviewer: Why do you call yourselves Kitsune (Japanese for fox)?
Kuroki: Because we’re foxy!
Ok, that attitude is enough for me to love ’em.
The relationship between fashion and music is serious as a thirteen year old’s crush. French label and record company, Kitsuné Maison, founded in 2002 by an elite crew of designers from Paris and Tokyo mainline cool in their music and represented artists (electro, electronic dance and pop). Their collections have thus far been very casual but hip in its messages and graphics (the wet dream of hipsters worldwide) and they have enjoyed the popularity of several tees (you may have seen the very cute Fox ear graphic tee!!) though currently their S/S 2011 has a golf theme playing up to the label’s luxurious Parisian heritage. However, even this collection is fun and playful with video adverts showing sexy models “competing” with each other on who can undress the fastest. And they still have their tees and hoodies and really amazing skinny jeans! They have an online shop and are sold at Barneys and briefly UrbanOutfitters. FYI, their tees run large and boxy. I am wearing an XS in the pictures below!
By the way guys I am now a contributor to a great fashion & travel website, Wearever the Weather, which helps you figure out how to fit in, what’s cool and what’s necessary to pack for locales and cities all around the globe! They also have a great forum to help you connect with other fashionable travellers! For a direct link to all my articles with them click here. For more on the hipster connection and Kitsune be sure to check out my Brooklyn Style article!
Kitsuné’s website is actually really worth visiting. They have a great blog and also free music downloads of their artists. I LOVE the free “Let’s Go Together minimix” by Gamble & Burke!!
